Weekend OVSC Racing

Inter-Club racing with the OVSC clubs. Most are "recreational racers" just having fun, so don't be intimidated by all the speed suits... You will get points for your team if you just make it through both runs, so everyone is important! Races will be mostly GS with an occasional slalom format, depending on the formats selected by the host Club.

It's a great way to improve your skiing, challenge yourself and have some fun.

Adults 21 and over must be a member of the CSC (Cinci) before joining the Race team (see our Membership Page )
JOIN THE RACE TEAM
Pay $5 plus a refundable $10 race bib deposit (keep the bib for any number of seasons) and enjoy a full season membership to the race team.
JUNIORS (under 21)
If you are under 21, and your parents are not CSC club members, we offer a junior race team membership for $5 plus $10 bib deposit without requiring the parents to join the club just so the kids can race with us. If the parents want to join the club as full members that is great too.

BENEFITS OF RACE TEAM MEMBERSHIP

Membership on CSC Race Team authorizes you to race in all OVSC races(most races have an extra entry fee). As a race team member, your results will be calculated and if you participate in 4 races, you qualify to be in the running for the awards and prizes at the end of the season.

Mentoring by our experienced racers. We love helping new racers learn this fun sport so just ask any team member for any help or advise you need. Contact either race chairman and let us know when you plan to race and we will be sure someone is looking out for you to show you the ropes, offer tips, maybe even throw some wax on your skis.
Motivates you to get in shape! The better shape you are in, the less you will crash so that motivates you to show up in good physical shape. Ski racing at a high level requires strong leg muscles, strong balance muscles, and strong core. Arms and shoulders are also important on our short courses to get a good push out of the gate. Regularly stretching the leg muscles helps prevent injury.

All our GS and Slalom races qualify as NASTAR races and are submitted to NASTAR,com so you can possibly qualify to race at regional and national Nastar events and see your ranking by resort, age group, statewide and nationally. * First time race team members should go to NASTAR.com and signup for an account to get a registration number that you will need to supply us on the race team application. Nastar registration numbers are always the first 3 letters of your last name followed by numbers. Rich Brown's is BRO601, our fastest club racer, Rick Mygrant is MYG1.

In addition to the CSC race team fee, you are responsible for lift tickets (we get a discount rate for some races) and possible small race fees charged by the ski area.

Forms must be received prior your intended first race day.
Mail your completed, signed and dated race team application (note the junior application is a different form than the adult) along with a check made out to CINCINNATI SKI CLUB for $5 for each app/racer and a separate check for $10 for each new racer who needs a team race bib. We will deliver your bib at your first race.

OVSC 2023 Race schedule is getting a lot closer to being setup but still have some details to work out. It looks like we may possibly have a couple Sunday races at Snow Trails, the two race weekends at Perfect North, and the Sunday Nastar races at Perfect North. A link to the schedule will be posted here once it is available.
We will update the above schedule with the lift ticket info and lodging info as it becomes available.

Thursday Night Public Nastar at Perfect North

For those fun loving racers among you, every Thursday night beginning the January 6th 2022 thru the end of February. Could start earlier if there is enough snow. Check racing page at Perfect North Slopes. Great for trying racing for the first time or improving your racing. Perfect North runs some great race training programs for kids and adults. See the Perfect North racing page linked above.

We are also now counting all public Nastar races on Sundays at Perfect North. Check Perfect North's racing page for the latest info about public Nastar races.
